Assessment of the Contribution of TETFund Regular Intervention on Infrastructural Development in Federal College of Education, Zaria

Abstract

TETFund in Nigeria was introduced to provide infrastructures that are adequate with a view to enhancing teaching efficiency as well as other essential academic needs of tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Despite significant investments, several issues persist specifically at FCE Zaria as there are evidences of infrastructural decay, despite TETFund’s periodic allocations. Consequently, this study assessed the contribution of TETfund regular intervention on infrastructural development in FCE Zaria. The study used the Resource Based View (RBV) theory as its theoretical framework. The population of the study comprises 928 academic staff from FCE Zaria. A sample of 274 academic staff were sampled and questionnaires were distributed. Stratified sampling was used to draw the participants. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study and simple linear regression was used to test the hypothesis developed at 5% level of significance. The result revealed that TETfund regular intervention has a positive significant contribution to infrastructural development in FCE Zaria. The study based on the finding recommends that TETfund should allocate more funding to construct additional lecture halls, hostels, sports and other facilities to address problems associated with the large students size in FCE Zaria.
